4th of July!

We lit off fireworks the on the 3rd and went to the Legends to watch the T-bones show.

On the 4th we drove to Wamego. My Dad grew up there and my Grandma and Grandpa Tibbetts are buried there. The trip brought back many fond memories of my childhood.

There was an antique car show, carnival, and parade. Brooks loved the parade and it reminded Josh and I of the things we sometimes miss not living in a small town. (I did have a word or two with the carnival guy that put Brooks and an adult against each other and then loudly declared the adult the winner and let him pick out a prize. Yes. Mama Bear made an appearance.)

After the parade and before the fireworks, we went into Manhattan to eat. We drove by the stadiums and checked out the new turf on the football field. Brooks declared he was going to play baseball for K-State and then the Cubs. I think Josh died of happiness at the thought! :-)

Wamego is said to have the best fireworks show in Kansas and the city proved they deserved that title. The 30 minute show consisted of 50,000 mortars being set off. It was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. It blew Kauffman Stadium's show out of the water!!
